Terry has worked in the hospitality industry for 25+ years, most of which were spent serving as the Controller and CIO at The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa in Asheville, N.C.  Terry is an active member in Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP), an international association recognized as the spokes group for the finance and technology segment of the hospitality industry, of which he served as HFTP Global President from 2009 to 2010.  Terry attended Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, N.C. where he received two Bachelor Degrees in Accounting and Computer Information Systems.

Christine Ryan has been the Administrator of the Wage & Hour Bureau of the NC Department of Labor since 2015.  Prior to that, she served as Deputy General Counsel and Small Business Ombudsman with the NC Department of Commerce and has held several positions with the NC Attorney General's office, primarily in the Consumer Protection Division.  She has a law degree from Wake Forest School of Law and a Master's in Speech-Language Pathology from UNC-Chapel Hill,

Rod has over 10 years of experience in public accounting.   Rod is a senior manager in the Firm's audit practice and heads the Firm’s Ag Biotech practice.  He works with clients in a variety of industries, including biomedical and pharmaceutical, software and technology development, healthcare, venture funds, as well as nonprofits.  His experience in these industries includes audits, reviews, and compilations of financial statements, testing and documentation of internal controls, and general business consulting.

Dawn Lopez has been working with business leaders and future business leaders (students) for more than two decades.  She has worked in public accounting, private industry, and as an accounting educator.  Lopez currently works at Johnson & Wales University, where she joined the Charlotte team in 2004 as the Campus Controller (2004 - 2009) and then began teaching full-time in 2009.  In 2016, Lopez was appointed Director of the Faculty Teaching and Learning Center at Johnson & Wales University.

Harvey Johnson, CPA, CGMA, PBMares CPA & Business Consulting
 
Mr. Johnson has more than twelve years of public accounting experience performing audits and other assurance services for both public and private companies.  In his current position, Mr. Johnson oversees all of the firms IT based work, including CyberSecurity, risk assessments, IT general control audits, SOC audits and vulnerability assessments.  He is a member of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Tidewater Chapter of the Virginia Society (TCVSCPA) of Certified Public Accountants, where he served as President on the Board of Directors of the TCVSCPA.  He is a five-time recipient (2009 - 2013) of Virginia Business magazine's “Super CPA” recognition in the Young CPAs category.  Mr. Johnson graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in Wilmington, North Carolina where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.  He also holds a Master of Science in Accounting from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.  In addition to being a CPA, he has also earned the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation.

Hiring Mistakes in the Hospitality Industry
 
Crystal Assadzandi, Human Resources Director, Lowes Home Building Supply (formerly with Champion Hills Golf Club)
 
Chrystal has been working in the Hospitality industry for over two decades in many different roles.  She started her management career as the Special Events Director at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, PA.  She also served as the Assistant Tournament Director for the 1998 Women's U.S.  Open at the Blackwolf Run in Kohler Wisconsin.  From 1999 until 2012 she worked at Champion Hills Club in Hendersonville, NC where she served as the Human Resources Manager and the Membership Director concurrently.  Shortly after moving to Pinehurst in 2012, she was hired by Lowe's Home Improvement as the Human Resources Manager for one of the stores.  Chrystal holds the designation as  the Senior Professional in Human Resources as well as the SHRM Senior Certified Professional.
